HTX4Ukraine, a local 501(c)(3) public charity, invites you to savor the flavors of borscht—a traditional hearty beet-based soup from Ukraine—first on screen and then in person.
In 2022, the Culture of Ukrainian Borscht Cooking was officially recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding. The documentary Borscht. The Secret Ingredient by FILM.UA and Ievgen Klopotenko inspired the founding of the Houston Borscht Cook-Off, a charitable event dedicated to saving lives one bowl of borscht at a time.
Join us for a screening of the film followed by the 4th Annual Borscht Cook-Off on November 15, 2025, from noon to 4 p.m. at Northside Columbus Hall, 607 E. Whitney Street, Houston, TX 77022.
